Coheed and Cambria Turns Scalia’s Dissents Into a Song for Funny or Die
Some of the flowery language Justice Antonin Scalia used in his dissents on last week’s Obamacare and gay marriage rulings––”jiggery-pokery” and “pure applesauce” among them––have already received some mockery. But now, because why the hell not, Funny or Die roped in Coheed and Cambria to put Scalia’s dissents to music.
And really, how could you not get into a song that starts out with the lyric “Absurd. You would think the answer obvious.”
But perhaps the greatest lyric of the whole thing is “Pure applesauce, jiggery-pokery/Buried beneath the mummeries/Silly extravagances, showy profundities/Ask the nearest hippie.”
