Comey Gets Emotional in Latest Subtweet Against Trump: Lady Liberty ‘In Rough Weather’
In James Comey’s latest subtweet against President Donald Trump, the former FBI director got a little emotional about the health of America’s democracy.
“In NYC to meet with my publisher. Hope leadership book will be useful. Reassuring to see Lady Liberty standing tall even in rough weather,” tweeted Comey on Tuesday night.

The ex-federal agent has dedicated a great deal of his only 32 tweets to slamming the president in a subliminal way, often resorting to firing off quotes from historical or influential figures that are applicable in protesting Trump’s latest controversial move.
For instance, after the president attacked the FBI as an organization that is in in “tatters” this weekend, Comey responded by posting one of his own quotes with a collage of smiling agents. “I want the American people to know this truth: The FBI is honest. The FBI is strong. And the FBI is, and always will be, independent,” said Comey.
However, his latest subtweet against the administration is undoubtedly his most emotional, as he invokes the imagery of the sun setting over the Statue of Liberty in hyperbolic “rough weather.” For this, Comey drew the ire of many on Twitter as the site heaped mockery on him for his dramatic, self-aggrandizing posting habits:
