Daily Caller Brings Booze to Capitol Hill to Troll Sexual Assault Survivors Protesting Kavanaugh

The Daily Caller brought booze and a camera to Capitol Hill on Friday to confront sexual assault survivors protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.

Sam Stein tweeted out about the incident and wrote about it for the Daily Beast.

According to his account:

Three people from conservative website The Daily Caller confronted anti-Brett Kavanaugh protesters in a Senate office building on Friday, offering alcohol to women who say they are survivors of sexual assault. One woman with a camera recorded a male host and another man holding beer asking protesters in the Hart Office Building if they like beer—a trollish reference to Kavanaugh’s repeated testimony last week that he did and continues to enjoy consuming beer.

The Daily Caller issued a very trollish statement on the stunt, denying they were trolling:

Anti-Kavanaugh protesters have been out in full force for the last two days confronting senators ahead of the final nomination vote expected on Saturday.

On Thursday, a group of protesters cornered Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) as he entered the elevator. He shooed them away and told them to “grow up.”

Also on Thursday, actress and comedian Amy Schumer was on hand for a mass protest at the Hart Senate Building. Schumer was among those detained.

As of Friday afternoon, the protesters — who have not publicly commented on The Daily Caller’s stunt — are organizing a response after Collins’ decision to vote ‘yes’ on Kavanaugh.
