Dave Chappelle is Making Three Stand-Up Specials for Netflix
Fresh off a hosting gig at Saturday Night Live, Dave Chappelle is going to keep the party going. Netflix announced that they will be releasing three stand-up specials which will be produced by and, of course, starring him.
In a statement to Variety, Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of original documentary and comedy said, “Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential… Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”
That they will be. Chappelle hasn’t done a television special in 12 years, and his SNL performance showed us that he’s definitely still got it. It earned the show its highest ratings in years.
One of the specials will be a Netflix original, while the other two are from Chappelle’s own vault. The performances from the vault were filmed at the Austin City Limits venue and the Hollywood Palladium. The specials that have already been filmed will be released next year- the original special does not have a date yet.
