Dem Committee Attacks Arizona GOP as Supporting Jim Crow-Style Segregation

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee mounted a scathing attack on Arizona’s Republican legislators for supporting a bill which it’s proponents argue would preserve religious freedom by allowing business owners to refuse to provide certain services to their gay and lesbian customers.

Making the direct link to Jim Crow-style segregation, the DCCC attacked Republicans for supporting a bill which the committee suggests would amount to separate but equal facilities for gay and straight Arizonans.

“You’ve already lost this argument – 50 years ago,” the DCCC web-based advertisement reads. “You don’t get to decide who sits at the lunch counter.”

A number of elected Republicans with Arizona links have urged Gov. Jan Brewer to veto the controversial bill. NBC News reported yesterday that sources close to Brewer believe she will veto the bill, but she has until Saturday to make the final decision.
