Democratic Group Sent Out Email Decrying DHS Shutdown That Didn’t Happen

Someone at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee got a little trigger happy with the SEND button Saturday morning.

Hours before the Department of Homeland Security was due to shutdown over lack of funding, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rallied House Democrats and helped House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) pass a one week funding extension, because this fight was so awesome everybody wants to do it again next week.

But the email sent out by the DCCC was outraged over the shutdown anyway. “Republicans forced a shutdown of Homeland Security,” the email read, per The Hill. “It started at MIDNIGHT last night. Together, we can make the Republicans regret their destructive choice to shut down President Obama’s agenda. Don’t miss this chance!”

Actually, Obama signed the funding extension before the midnight deadline. The DCCC realized its error and was forced to send out a second email. “We screwed up,” the group wrote the second time, before warning of the next seven days of GOP shenanigans.
