Dinesh D’Souza: America ‘Will Survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House’

Conservative commentator and 2016: Obama’s America author Dinesh D’Souza trolled the web Tuesday afternoon with a tweet declaring his thankfulness that America will recover from having what he considers an adult version of the late Trayvon Martin in the White House.

“I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!” the former King’s College president declared via Twitter:

For those who somehow don’t know: Trayvon was the black teenager shot and killed by George Zimmerman during a February 2012 confrontation in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder charges after an intense, racially-charged debate and trial.

As such, D’Souza’s tweet received plenty of angry responses:

UPDATE: As of 8:23 p.m. ET, it appears as though D’Souza has deleted the tweet.
