Does This Sandra Fluke Cartoon Go Too Far?

 

In the endless aftermath of Rush Limbaugh‘s comments comes another moment of controversy — this time regarding a cartoonist’s take on the Sandra Fluke. Conservative cartoonist Gary McCoy is facing some backlash of his own after unflattering depiction of Fluke and the debate surrounding the contraception mandate.

The cartoon shows an overweight Fluke holding a “pro-choice” sign, declaring, “STAY OUT OF MY UTERUS GOVERNMENT!!” The following slide reads “…after paying for my birth control,” and shows Fluke writing “For a good time call…” on a men’s bathroom door.

Critics argue the cartoon is vulgar and nasty — that it aligns with Limbaugh’s provocative claims about how taxpayer money is being spent.
