Chuck Grassley Asks DOJ to Investigate Avenatti’s Gang Rape Claims on Kavanaugh

Senator Chuck Grassley has asked the Justice Department to investigate liberal lawyer Michael Avenatti and his misconduct allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which were made by his client Julie Swetnick.
“Maybe if Grassley was actually a lawyer that knew something about the law, he would realize what he has done,” Avenatti tweeted in response to Grassley’s accusation that he “knowingly misled” the Senate. “He just opened up Pandora’s box as it relates to Justice Kavanaugh’s conduct. It is Christmas in October!”

According to the lawyer, Swetnick signed a sworn statement saying that she had seen Kavanaugh and his high school friend and alleged witness of the Christine Blasey Ford incident Mark Judge at the scene of a gang rape where she was assaulted. Swetnick has already contradicted her own claims made in the sworn statement, doing so in an interview with NBC News.
Avenatti claims that another one of his clients, a woman who chose to remain anonymous, believes she saw Kavanaugh or Judge spike alcoholic beverages at high school parties to make girls highly intoxicated.
“It is incorrect that I saw Brett spike the punch,” the unnamed woman said, per NBC News. “I didn’t see anyone spike the punch…I was very clear with Michael Avenatti from day one.”
Avenatti responded to her claims with outrage after an NBC reporter texted him about it: “I have no idea what you are talking about. I have a signed declaration that states otherwise together with multiple audio recordings where she stated exactly what is in the declaration. There were also multiple witnesses to our discussions.”
“I just confirmed with her yet again that everything in the declaration is true and correct,” he continued. “She must have been confused by your question.”
The woman has since said Avenatti “twisted” her words and plans to cut off communication with the Stormy Daniels attorney and potential presidential candidate.
CORRECTION: The original version of this post stated that the DOJ is looking into Avenatti — this is incorrect. Grassley has just asked the DOJ for such an investigation, but it has not started yet. Mediaite regrets this error.
