Donald Trump Files $500 Million Lawsuit Against Univision

trumpWell, he did it. Donald Trump has officially filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision for cutting their ties to the Miss Universe Organization following his comments about Mexican immigrant rapists.

Univision entered into a partnership with Trump and NBC earlier this year to broadcast the pageants, but backed out after Trump’s remarks in his presidential campaign announcement speech. Trump threatened to sue Univision for breach of contract.

A press release today about the lawsuit says Univision’s decision was “a politically motivated attempt to suppress Mr. Trump’s freedom of speech under the First Amendment as he begins to campaign for the nation’s presidency.”

And despite yesterday’s denial from Univision, the release insists Univision apologized to Trump directly.

Trump’s statement on the lawsuit reaffirms his beliefs about immigration, and then goes on to bash both Univision and NBC:

“As a consequence of their inappropriate actions, Univision and NBC have abandoned fifty one wonderful young women who have come from all over the United States to pursue their dream of being crowned Miss USA. Their participation in this globally renowned pageant has come at great cost and after years of sacrifice and hard work. NBC and Univision have wronged them greatly.”
