Drudge Uses Walz Announcement to Slam JD Vance: ‘And He Doesn’t Wear Eyeliner’
Matt Drudge is using the occasion of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s announcement as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate to ridicule the apparent use of eye makeup by Senator and Vice Presidential hopeful JD Vance.
On the well-trafficked and wildly influential political media website, the top headline blares, “IT’S WALZ!’ Just underneath that, however, is the similarly all-capped “AND HE DOESN’T WEAR EYELINER,’ followed by “71% NEVER HEARD OF HIM.” To wit:
The screaming eyeliner headline links to an Independent UK report focused on SNL’s Cecily Strong, who made a series of digs while participating in “Comics for Kamala,” which was a fundraising effort for Kamala Harris. The Independent reports:
“JD Vance looks like a composite of every guy that’s called you a b***h on Bumble,” she joked.
She said the Republican “is confusing because his rhetoric wants us to panic about immigrants, but his eyeliner wants us to panic at the disco.”
Roughly a week ago, a number of social media posts focused on apparent eye makeup visible upon close screen shots of recent television appearances by Vance. Wearing makeup for televised appearances is quite normal, though the alleged application of eyeliner is — in my experience — rare and should never be visible to the viewer.
