Editor Wants to Make it Very, Very Clear NY Times ‘Has Not Chosen’ Hillary Clinton
The ink was barely dry on Sunday’s New York Times Benghazi report before Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace was asking if the article was meant to “clear the deck” for a Hillary Clinton 2016 run, a charge reiterated today by Representative Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA).
Andrew Rosenthal, Editor of the Times Editorial Page, rolled his eyes at these charges in a blog post Monday afternoon:
Since I will have more to say about which candidate we will endorse in 2016 than any other editor at the Times, let me be clear: We have not chosen Mrs. Clinton. We haven’t chosen anyone. I can also state definitively that there was no editorial/newsroom conspiracy of any kind, because I knew nothing about the Benghazi investigation article until I read it in the paper on Sunday.
Rosenthal also kicked House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) in the teeth for his performance on Meet the Press.
