Edward Snowden to Speak at SXSW Conference Next Week

This Friday kicks off the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference and festival in Austin, Texas, and this year one of the speakers is going to be none other than NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Yes, next Monday Snowden will appear at SXSW via videoconference to discuss the implications of NSA spying and how “technology can help to protect us from mass surveillance.” The ACLU is involved in the session and the video of Snowden’s remarks and the Q&A will be available on their website.

And for those of you who want to watch Snowden’s session live, SXSW says there will be a livestream available on the Texas Tribune‘s website.

Other guests that will be appearing via satellite video will be Glenn Greenwald, who will be talking about “the future of journalism, civil liberties and politics,” and Julian Assange in an “extremely rare public interview” to talk about similar issues.
