Emanuel AME Church Holds Bible Study One Week After Shooting

One week after nine individuals who attended Bible study at the Emanuel AME Church were shot dead, congregants convened for Bible study tonight, in the very same room where their brothers and sisters were killed.

Reverend Norvel Goff told KYTX, “We’re still saddened by the loss, we still cry, we still grieve, we still have broken hearts, but we serve a God who is able to carry us through… No evil in this world can overtake the faith in which we have.”

Friends and family members of the victims attended the Bible study. Goff said the themes of the Bible study tonight will be love and community.

CNN’s Martin Savidge reported that it was “really difficult to walk into that room,” and there were about 150 people in attendance.
