Feinstein Refutes Claim There Was ‘Credible Threat’ on Bergdahl’s Life
There was much outrage on both sides this week over the White House not informing Congress ahead of time before making the POW swap to get Bowe Bergdahl back home, and a report suggested this was done because there was a threat to Bergdahl’s life and they couldn’t risk leaks. But top Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein is publicly refuting the idea there was any kind of credible threat against Bergdahl.
In an interview with Bloomberg to air tonight, Feinstein says, “I don’t think there was a credible threat. I have no information that there was.” Feinstein was up in arms over the White House’s actions to the point where the Obama administration actually apologized to her.
This purported threat was confirmed, however, by several high-ranking officials, as well as Independent Senator Angus King, who said on CNN this week that “there was a reasonable chance Bowe Bergdahl would have been killed.”
