FL Mom Agrees to Get Son Circumcised After Refusing Lands Her in Jail
A Florida mother took some pretty extreme measures to keep her four-year-old son from being circumcised. After a long legal battle going back to 2012, a judge ruled last year that the child of Heather Hironimus and Dennis Nebus should be circumcised.
Hironimus changed her mind about wanting to do it, and when she was ordered to bring her son to court two months ago to sign the consent form, she didn’t appear. Hironimus stayed in a domestic violence shelter for about two months until she was arrested a few days ago.
She had objected on the grounds that the procedure was medically unnecessary and could have negative effects on her child.
But finally, Hironimus tearfully signed the consent form yesterday in court. The judge granted Nebus sole custody of their child for the next 90 days.
Hironimus faces a criminal charge over interference of custody for the months she spent hiding with her son.
