Florida Woman Arrested After Refusing to Give Her Baby ‘Non-Vegan’ Meds

A Florida mother was arrested this week on charges of child neglect after refusing to bring her newborn baby to the hospital. Why? Because this mother has very strong vegan beliefs and did not want her infant ingesting anything with animal products.

The infant was dehydrated and Sarah Markham was told that her baby needed treatment right away. She refused and did not show up when she was supposed to. Police received a tip and came over to Markham’s house to investigate.

Police were outside for an hour, and Markham refused to open the door. They eventually got a locksmith to open it and interrogate her. Markham insisted she wanted a second opinion, but ended up getting arrested for not getting her baby the treatment it needed.
