Forbes Mocked for Piece Arguing Best Pick for ‘Feminist’ Golden Globes Host is Seth Meyers

It’s Monday afternoon and we already have a leading contender for Worst Take of the Week.
Forbes published a blog post from a contributor titled, “The Golden Globes Need A Feminist Host This Year, And Seth Meyers Fits The Bill” — and Twitter erupted shortly after with mockery. The publication’s tweet featuring the post was quickly ratio’d — a term referencing the number of outraged replies a post receives vs. combined likes and retweets — as the Twitter mentions belonging to the Forbes entertainment account quickly descended into the internet equivalent of a dumpster fire.
To justify the outrageous proposition, Forbes contributor Carey Purcell mentioned the “onslaught of sexual harassment charges” that have been leveled against the entertainment industry — as well as all other industries of power. “[Meyers] has repeatedly proven himself to be a feminist ally, is the perfect person to stand behind the mic,” said Purcell.
Despite mentioning a number of women who have previously hosted the Golden Globes successfully, the contributor oddly did not nominate a woman for the role but maintained her support for Seth Meyers. “A host with a proven track record of providing sensitive commentary on current events and gender-related issues is absolutely necessary, and in his three years in the late-night arena, Meyers has quietly proven himself to be just that,” she concluded.
While the hot take likely gave the site plenty of outrage traffic and hate-reads, it cost the writer and Forbes plenty of Twitter ridicule, as seen below:
And apparently there’s no better feminist than a man! https://t.co/j3U9wwyErl

Or maybe they could have, you know, a woman. (Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were great) https://t.co/5r1ON5r5uY
