French Police Identify Third Attacker From Deadly Paris Attacks
As European authorities continue to take actions against terrorists in the wake of the Paris attack, French police have identified the third ISIS suicide bomber who went on a rampage throughout Paris last month.
Al Jazeera reported that Prime Minister Manuel Valls confirmed that Foued Mohamed Aggad participated in the massacre at the Bataclan concert hall. Police reports say that Mohamed-Aggad was a 23-year-old citizen of the French city of Strasbourg, and that he travelled to Syria in 2013 alongside his brother as part of a group of radicalized young men.
“What is important is that the investigation is progressing, that the accomplices are found out, that arrests happen,” said Prime Minister Valls. He also promised that more arrests and investigations would be carried out as part of France’s terror crackdown.
While the BBC reported that several group members were arrested last year after returning to France in spring, Mohamed-Aggad is believed to have remained in Syria. Though he was one of the attackers who used his suicide belt to blow himself up, his identity was reportedly confirmed after his DNA was matched with samples from his family.
Omar Ismail Mostefai and Samy Amimour have also been identified among the ISIS militants who participated in the carnage. One suspected militant, Salah Abdelsalam, has supposedly escaped back to Syria, but Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected orchestrator of the attacks, died during a standoff with French cops.
