Friend of Boston Bomber Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Obstruction

boston friendDias Kadyrbayev, a friend of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was sentenced today to six years in prison on charges of obstruction.

In the aftermath of the 2013 bombing, Kadyrbayev and two other individuals were charged with conspiring to obstruct justice and disposing of evidence. Last year Kadyrbayev pled guilty to obstruction and today he said, “I can’t find an answer. I really can’t believe that I acted so stupidly.”

Kadyrbayev had taken a bunch of things from Tsarnaev’s dorm room and thrown them out after realizing Tsarnaev was the one the FBI was looking for in connection with the marathon bombing.

Judge Douglas Woodlock today sentenced him to six years in prison. He’ll be deported back to Kazakhstan when his term is up.
