GOP Congresswoman Gets Threatening E-Mail After Shooting: ‘One Down, 216 To Go’

A freshman congresswoman from New York State received a threatening e-mail on Wednesday, hours after the mass shooting in Alexandria, Virginia that targeted her Republican colleagues in Congress.

The e-mail’s author warned Rep. Claudia Tenney, a Republican who represents the Empire State’s 22nd congressional district, “One down, 216 to go.”

Syracuse.com gave additional details on the ominous electronic message in a Wednesday report. The writer somehow thought it wise to not only send the message, but also include his or her “name, address and telephone number in Boonville, Oneida County.” The news outlet excerpted the e-mail.

“Did you NOT expect this?” the writer added. “When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit(ed). Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.”

Rep. Tenney told the website that “she immediately reported the email to U.S. Capitol Police.”

The Republican congresswoman also praised one of the victims of the attack, Rep. Steve Scalise: “Steve Scalise has got to be one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.”
