Greta Van Susteren On New Fox News Contract: “No Surprise There”
10pmET Fox News host Greta Van Susteren has a new contract with the network, according to the New York Times.
“The new contract will keep Ms. Van Susteren at Fox for several more years,” reports Brian Stelter. Greta is not surprised, and doesn’t know why anyone would be.
There was speculation that another big FNC up-and-comer, like Megyn Kelly or even Glenn Beck could move into a prime time slot when Van Susteren’s contract was up at the end of the year. While the NYT story doesn’t say outright that Van Susteren’s contract means she definitely will stay at 10pmET, Stelter writes the contract gives “its hugely popular prime time line-up an added measure of stability.” The implication is certainly that prime time remains untouched through the 2012 election.
Greta thinks the fact anyone might be surprised is laughable. She writes on her blog, GretaWire:
I just got an email from blogger Alec Wasserman who says he read that I have signed a new contract with Fox News Channel. Big surprise, huh? ON THE RECORD at 10pm has been #1 for 8 1/2 straight years….do you really think anyone would change anything? Why would I and why would Fox? It has worked for both of us. So no surprise there…go back to your blogging!
Alright, back to blogging it is…
