Guns Used By CT Shooter Were Registered To His Mother, According To Reports
Given the debate many would like to have over gun control and easy access to firearms, one of the most important details of the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning is how the shooter obtained the guns. Law enforcement officials confirmed to a number of news organizations earlier that the guns were legally acquired and registered by the mother of the shooter, Nancy Lanza.

After hours of reports that the shooter was Ryan Lanza, law enforcement officials later confirmed that it was, in fact, his brother Adam Lanza, who is considered to be the suspected shooter. His mother was found dead in their home earlier today.
According to CNN, it is now believed the guns belonged to Lanza’s mother.
A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation says the three guns found at the shooting site were legally purchased by Nancy Lanza, the mother of the suspect in the shooting.
According to the law enforcement official, the Glock and Sig Sauer handguns were found inside the school with the deceased gunman. The Bushmaster was found in a car outside the school. The official did not know if the car was registered to the gunman, to his mother or to someone else.
NBC News adds that Connecticut gun laws prohibit anyone under 21 from purchasing or owning handguns. Lanza was 20 years old.
