A handwritten note was found near one of the unexploded bombs found by authorities this weekend, CNN reported Monday night.
The note included references to the bombers responsible for the attack on the Boston Marathon in April 2013. That attack also made use of homemade pressure cooker bombs, similar to the ones discovered in New York and New Jersey this weekend.
One of the devices detonated Friday night in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, injuring 29.
Authorities apprehended the suspect, Ahmad Khan Rahami, on Monday morning following a firefight with the police. An FBI agent said that there was strong evidence directly linking Rahami to the bombs.
“However long he’s been trying to make [the bombs], he did have some kind of expertise,” CNN’s Evan Perez said.
