Harry Reid, Redskins Crusader, Doesn’t Even Like Football That Much

For months now, Senator Harry Reid has been advocating for the Washington Redskins to change their name. He got 49 other senators to sign a letter to the NFL pushing for a name change and has taken shot after shot at the team. Which makes it a bit odd that Reid’s really not that into football anyway.

You would figure Reid going after a football team suggested some interest in the game, but apparently not. In a wide-ranging interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Reid admits he roots for the team, but really isn’t too crazy about football in the first place. He said, “I’d rather go to a baseball game. I’d rather watch a tennis match. I’d rather watch soccer. I’m glad people enjoy football, but I don’t enjoy it that much. I do like college football.”

Reid does not, as the Review-Journal put it, “consider himself a professional football fan.” In fact, he’s only ever attended one Redskins game, and it was in the early 1980s, and he doesn’t even remember who the other team was.

It should be noted at this point that Reid said, mere days ago, he wouldn’t attend a Redskins game until the team changes its name.
