One that has proven especially popular is an essay published yesterday on Salon titled, “My awful date with Donald Trump: The real story of a nightmare evening with a callow but cash-less heir.”

The author, Lucy Klebanow, wrote about getting into a Cadillac with a pure red interior and noting the phone that was inside, which was very rare in the early 1970s. Trump took her to Peter Luger. She said, “I didn’t think he was really bright” and also mentioned that Trump didn’t have cash on him and thus couldn’t pay at Peter Luger, which everyone knows is an establishment that doesn’t take credit cards.

She paid for the date and closed her essay with this, four decades later:

Should he get to the White House, I would love to be paid back with interest. If he doesn’t get to the White House, I consider this story enough of a payback.
