Hawaii To AZ Official: Prove You Need Verification Of Obama’s Birth Certificate

Ken Bennett, Arizona’s secretary of state, made headlines late last week following an interview in which he said it’s “possible” he’d take President Barack Obama off the state’s ballot without birth certificate confirmation from Hawaii. Responding to his request, Hawaii officials said there are further steps Bennett needs to take — including proving that he need such confirmation.

AZfamily.com reported that the Hawaii attorney general’s office did respond to Bennett’s request (which Bennett said he’d been waiting on for eight weeks). Via the report:

The Hawaii attorney general’s office has reportedly told Bennett that there are steps he needs to take in order to confirm President Obama’s birth records.

Those steps include Bennett proving that he legitimately needs confirmation in order to update the records at his office.

As we reported last week, Bennett said in an interview that he submitted a request for verification of the president’s birth certificate. Saying he’s not a birther himself (“I believe that the president was born in the United States — or at least I hope he was”), Bennett said he was doing his job of going over the ballot and responding to constituents’ concerns.
