No — to answer your question. The NFL cannot flex a Sunday night game so early in the season. If they could, they certainly would. But they cannot. And so America is stuck with the putrid New York Giants, who take on the Denver Broncos at Mile High this week on Sunday Night Football
Things have fallen completely apart for the Giants — who remain winless through five games. Their offensive line is a sieve. Their running game has never gotten going. And now, even their vaunted defense has shown some serious warts. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was suspended indefinitely by the team this week for essentially quitting during last Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The team is a mess.
And where better for a team on the ropes to go than Denver for a primetime game at Mile High? The Broncos enter off a bye week at 3-1 — their lone blemish coming at the hands of the Bills in Buffalo. Quarterback Trevor Siemian has improved in his second season, and the Broncos defense appears to be one of the best in football once again. This one has all the makings of a blowout.
