Huckabee: My Comments About ‘Trashy’ Women Not Directed at Fox News
Ex-Fox News host and current possible 2016 candidate Mike Huckabee gave a radio interview this week in which he said that there are a lot of “trashy” New York women he’s met in business meetings who are prone to swearing. The men do too, but Huckabee finds it unseemly for women to be swearing that much.
Huckabee did not get specific, but several different news outlets reported that he was talking about his former Fox colleagues. Headlines from New York Magazine, Media Matters, ThinkProgress, Raw Story, and Politico all said Huckabee was all talking about Fox.
And it was Politico in particular (the headline there has since been updated, for the record) that Huckabee honed in on in a lengthy statement to The Daily Caller. Here’s part of it, where Huckabee insists he wasn’t talking about the women at Fox:
I spoke of the profanity used in normal conversations in business settings in New York, but neither in the book nor in interviews said or even intimated that I was speaking about the ‘women of Fox News.’ To say that is either the result of wishful thinking as to what they hoped I said or just plain inability to read and comprehend.
