Rep. Ilhan Omar Thanks Fox News for Condemning Jeanine Pirro’s Hijab Comments

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is saluting Fox News after the network rebuked Jeanine Pirro for her controversial comments about Omar’s loyalty to the Constitution.

“Thank you, @FoxNews,” Omar wrote. “No one’s commitment to our constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth.”

During a segment in which Pirro tore into Omar and the Democratic Party during her show on Saturday because of the House member’s comments about Israel, the Fox host sparked controversy by suggesting that Omar’s hijab is proof that she adheres to Sharia law and, therefore, she’s “antithetical” to the Constitution.

The remarks have been rebuked across the media spectrum, and Fox News says they “strongly condemn” Pirro’s comments, and that “they do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly.”
