The Independent reports that the terror group released a statement where they praised the attack that left 22 people dead and dozens more with serious injuries. Various sources have also noted that pro-ISIS accounts posted celebratory remarks on multiple online forums shortly after news of the attack broke.
“A soldier of the caliphate planted bombs in the middle of Crusaders gatherings,” ISIS said, according to AP. The statement also bragged that the attack left a higher body count than what authorities have officially confirmed.
The attack has drawn condemnation from British Prime Minister Theresa May, President Trump, and various others who noted that the attack was carried out with the seeming intent to target young families. British authorities have arrested someone who they believe may be connected to the perpetrator.
