Jason Sudeikis Revives Hilarious Coach Character for NBC Sports

To promote its upcoming Barclays Premier League coverage, NBC Sports roped SNL alum Jason Sudeikis into doing another promotional video as ignorant coach Ted Lasso, an American who became a fish out of water, of sorts, in jolly old England. NBC Sports started doing promotional videos with the Lasso character last year, and apparently they were a big enough hit to bring him back.

How ignorant is he? He doesn’t understand what live TV means, he has no boundaries whatsoever in engaging with the amusingly-accented Brits, and in coming back to the States, he embraced all of their customs, like driving on the left side of the road.

There’s even a brief cameo from the United States Honorary Secretary of Defense (no, that’s not real, but it should be) Tim Howard. Lasso picked Howard’s brain about what “offside” means, remarking, “I think I literally have a better understanding of who killed Kennedy than I do what is offside.”
