Jeff Flake Mocks Trump’s Claim of ‘Rejected’ Endorsement With Roy Moore Burn

Republican Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona called out President Donald Trump for lying about the lawmaker endorsing Rep. Martha McSally to replace his Senate seat, as he “made no endorsement in this race.”
“Martha McSally, running in the Arizona Primary for U.S. Senate, was endorsed by rejected Senator Jeff Flake….and turned it down – a first! Now Martha, a great U.S. Military fighter jet pilot and highly respected member of Congress, WINS BIG. Congratulations, and on to November!” Trump tweeted this morning.

However, Flake, who is retiring at the end of his term, had no such exchange with McSally and has not endorsed a candidate since Roy Moore and now-Senator Doug Jones ran against each other for the Alabama seat.
“Sorry, @realDonaldTrump. I made no endorsement in this race. I think the last endorsement I made was in the Alabama race,” Flake shot back.

Flake did have good words for McSally, however, telling reporters just prior to the election that he hopes McSally takes the seat.
“I think McSally will win. I hope she does,” Flake said. “That’s the only shot that obviously Republicans have to hold on to the seat, but it’s even difficult then. This is going to be a hard-fought general election.”
The candidates in the race who lost include to very pro-Trump figures, as conspiracy theorist Kelli Ward and disgraced former sheriff Joe Arpaio both lost by a large margin.
