Maintaining knowledge of both politics and pop culture is imperative if you want to be well-rounded in this day and age. Just ask John Kasich. He schooled the hosts of ABC’s The View on some celebrity-related topics today.
We won’t get too deep into it, but Taylor Swift maintains a pure image but is despised by a number of celebrities who have gotten close to her. Specifically, Kim Kardashian West has called her out for her fakery, but it’s her feud with Katy Perry that’s most noteworthy. It allegedly started when Perry took some of Swift’s background dancers mid-tour, then escalated when Swift released the song, “Bad Blood.” You may remember it from its near-constant airplay about a year ago.
Like we said, we won’t get too deep into it, but Kasich definitely did.
“It’s shocking everybody. The thing is — ‘don’t ever steal anybody’s dancers’ is the message. Maybe they’re just trying to get some extra press, although I don’t know that Taylor Swift needs any extra press. In fact, she kind of went into hiding and now they say she’s going to reemerge with a new sound and she does have a new sound … she put out this song, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,’ with Zayn, who’s a One Direction guy…”
“He knows his stuff!” exclaimed Jedediah Bila.
“This is not a joke,” cautioned Sara Haines. “He schooled us in the meeting.”
Kasich continued, oblivious to their praise, highlighting Swift’s collaborative efforts on “This Is What You Came For,” a hit song put out by her ex, Calvin Harris.
The governor of Ohio elected not to take sides in Perry and Swift’s feud, saying they’re “two great pop artists.”
“What do you think you can do about Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon in that case?” Joy Behar asked, popping the pop bubble and moving straight into politics.
