King of Jordan Pledges ‘Relentless’ War in Retaliation Against ISIS

King Abdullah of Jordan publicly pledged a swift and strong retaliation after ISIS posted a video online showing a Jordanian pilot being burned alive. Jordan has already responded, with the hanging of two captured Iraqi nationals, but King Abdullah said more will come.

According to multiple reports, he said, “We are waging this war to protect our faith, our values and human principles and our war for their sake will be relentless and will hit them in their own ground.”

A spokesman for the Jordanian government said they’re looking at a “collaborative effort between coalition members to intensify efforts to stop extremism and terrorism.”

King Abdullah was in the U.S. yesterday, and in response to news of the execution, he reportedly channeled Clint Eastwood and quoted a line from a scene in Unforgiven. Just to give you some idea of what the intent here was, this is what Eastwood says in the scene:

“Any man I see out there, I’m gonna kill him. Any son of a bitch takes a shot at me, I’m not only going to kill him, I’m going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his damn house down.”
