Larry King Open to Coming Back to CNN as Piers Morgan’s Replacement

Larry King, legendary talk show host and former CNN fixture, stepped down from his long-running talk show program in 2010 to make room for Piers Morgan. King, 81, was never much for retirement and immediately began hosting a program on Ora TV. Now that CNN has made it official that Morgan’s three-year-old program will cease in the coming months, King is offering to return to his old home.

Asked by The Daily Beast if he would be interested in returning to his old network, King said he would so long as CNN chief Jeff Zucker was interested in his talents. “If he talked to the people at Ora TV and they could work it out, I would do it,” King said. Now, whether Zucker would want King is an entirely different question and thus far no one has suggested that King is in the running to become the answer to CNN’s 9pm woes.

Morgan revealed in the New York Times over the weekend that Zucker had determined that, after months of consistently poor ratings, the network had decided to cancel his program. The interview indicated that Morgan believed that as a Brit, his regular berating of gun rights activists and a crusade to strengthen American gun laws may have reduced the host’s appeal.
