Lena Dunham took to Instagram to hit back at US Weekly for using her name and image on the cover of their magazine to promote a piece on diet tips.
On a recent cover, it says “20 Slimdown Diet Tips Stars are Using” next to a picture of her. In case you didn’t already know, the Girls creator and star does not care what you think about her body. Apparently, this magazine needed another reminder, so Dunham obliged, and created her own set of 20 tips.
The first of these tips is “anxiety disorder,” the second is “resultant constant nausea,” and the rest of the list continues on in the same manner with tips such as “baseless but still harrowing threats to physical safety online and through snail mail” and “watching institutions you love from Planned Parenthood to PBS be threatened by cartoon mustache-twirling villains.” Tip 19 is “um, who the fuck cares?” and in the 20th tip, she provides a message: “I have no tips I give no tips I don’t want to be on this cover cuz it’s diametrically opposed to everything I’ve fought my whole career for and it’s not a compliment to me because it’s not an achievement thanx.”
