Marla Maples Says Tiffany Trump is Currently ‘Wanting to Get to Know Her Dad’

People love to joke that Tiffany Trump is the least favorite child of the Republican nominee for President. Like this:

And this:

It’s true that her half-siblings have been much, much more prominent figures on the campaign trail and that her only real appearance was her speech at the RNC. She’s done a few interviews here and there but reports indicate that even as a child, she only spent about two weeks or so with her father a year.

A new profile of her mother, Marla Maples, appeared in the Daily Beast today and it shed more light on how the young woman gets along with her dad. The profile explained that Maples moved her daughter to California when she and Donald Trump divorced to shield the child from New York’s gossipy culture. Now that she is 22 and has graduated from college, Maples said she is working to get closer to her dad.

“My daughter is back here wanting to get to know her dad and spend more time with him, and I have to really respect that and I do respect that in every way. I was fortunate enough to raise her in California really on my own,” she said.

Still, if you click over to the full profile, you’ll notice that Maples has a habit of stopping herself midway through a thought. After doing it multiple times, she said, “God, it’s just such a hard thing to say because I just do not want to—I never want to get in the middle with Tiffany.”

Finally, remember the Twitter joke about Tiffany Trump not getting the same level of security as Ivanka Trump and the candidate’s other kids embedded above? Well, it’s true. Maples did share that her daughter, unlike the children of Ivana Trump and Melania Trump, does not have security. This adds to “Tiffany’s concern that she comes off as the Jan Brady of the Trump family, the daughter Trump hardly knew until recently.”

It’s a fair concern.
