Mitch McConnell: Obamacare ‘Status Quo’ Will Remain, Democrats ‘Ought to be Pretty Happy’

Health care — as some recently learned — is not easy.
Amid renewed efforts to revive the doomed American Health Care Act yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seemed to once again throw cold water on the whole idea.
“It’s pretty obvious we were not able in the House to pass a replacement,” McConnell told reporters, yesterday. “Our Democratic friends ought to be pretty happy about that because we have the existing law in place and I think we’re just going to have to see how that works out.”
The majority leader continued: “We believe it will not work out well, but we’ll see. They have an opportunity now to have the status quo go forward, regretfully.”
The Republican plan to replace Obamacare was shelved last week after the House failed to vote on the bill on Friday. Donald Trump and House leadership announced they would move on to tax reform, until Monday when House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Republican caucus said they were reviving their plans to repeal and replace after-all, but would not be bound by any artificial deadlines.
Clearly, however, the Senate is not on the same page.
