Mizzou Leaders Condemn Threats, Make Counselors Available to Students

mizzouThree officials in leadership positions at the University of Missouri released a joint statement today condemning the “threats” against members of the community.

Since last night MUPD has been looking into alleged threats made against students, with one student being arrested for posting a threat on Yik Yak.

UM Vice President of Academic Affairs Hank Foley, Provost Garnett Stokes, and Interim Vice Chancellor for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Chuck Henson released a joint statement today saying, “Our campus has experienced significant turbulence, and many within our community have suffered threats against their lives and humanity. These threats are reprehensible.”

All three spoke of a more “inclusive” campus environment and making counselors available to any student who needs to open up about what they’re going through.

They announced plans for future campus events to address this issues and assured that there are plenty of faculty members who have shown “extraordinary compassion to our students.”

There were concerns brought up by students that the KKK had shown up on campus, but university police disputed those rumors.
