Christie to #BlackLivesMatter: Don’t Ask Me for a Meeting, ‘You’re Not Getting One’
Chris Christie is on record as being no fan of #BlackLivesMatter, but at a campaign stop today, he said that unlike other candidates he wouldn’t even want to meet with them.
But Christie has said time and again––and reiterated it at the debate last night––that President Obama is encouraging “lawlessness” by defending #BlackLivesMatter when members of the movement are calling for violence against police officers.
He said today, “No President of the United States should dignify a group like that by saying anything positive about them, and no candidate for president, like Hillary Clinton, should give them any credibility by meeting with them, as she’s done.”
Christie said, “I want the Black Lives Matter people to understand: Don’t call me for a meeting. You’re not getting one.”
When Ted Cruz was asked last month about meeting with members of the movement, he said he’s open to meeting with anyone, but thinks #BlackLivesMatter “celebrates” the killing of police officers.
