Naipolishgate Continues: Jennifer Lopez’s Son Also Wants To Paint His Nails
We’ve been following Fox News’ coverage of a J. Crew email ad featuring the brand’s president / executive creative director, Jenna Lyons, painting her son’s toenails bright pink. On Monday, Fox News’ Twitter account asked followers to weigh in on whether they thought the ad “crossed the line” and, yesterday, America Live‘s Martha MacCallum (who is currently subbing for Megyn Kelly) and Trace Gallagher devoted a segment to the ad, drawing on opinions from a psychologist and a professor.
Other media outlets (including the Today show) and celebrities have been weighing in on the ad, including… American Idol host Jennifer Lopez. We know, right? Finally.
In an interview with People‘s 2011 “Most Beautiful” issue, Lopez shares that her son also wants to have his nails painted:
[Daughter Emme] is very girly-girl, just like me since I was very little. She loves for me to paint her nails. She lays out her clothes on the floor like I do with my stylist and she’s like, “This matches very good!” [Son Max] wants to paint his nails too. Because for him, it’s just paint. He’s like, “I want the blue!”
We remember that, when actress Angelina Jolie defended daughter Shiloh’s preference for dressing in traditional boys’ clothes, the media and public responded with what seemed like equal parts support, disgust and – of course – morbid fascination.
We wonder if the same will prove true for J. Lo… and whether celebrities’ views on parenting have any impact on others’ approach.
