New York Building Wins Case to Take Trump Name Off its Facade

A New York building has won a case to strip itself of the Trump name.
According to The Washington Post‘s David Farenthold, 200 Riverside Boulevard between 69th and 70th streets in Manhattan is allowed to remove “Trump Place” from its facade.

The high-rise building is one of six that now-President Donald Trump helped to develop in the ’90s, but he doesn’t own any of them. Since the 2016 election, half of them – not including the high-rise – have already removed the Trump name due to concerns that it might lower the property value.
The Trump Organization and the condo board went to court over the high-rise removing the Trump name. The Trump Organization cited an 18-year-old licensing agreement which requires the building to bear the name of Trump, and the condo board countered that the agreement simply allows the building to bear the Trump name, rather than requires it.
Turns out, the building is entirely free to remove the name. But Eric Trump said the fight in court was still worth the hassle.
“I will always fight vehemently against rogue individuals not only to protect our incredible [condo] owners,” Eric Trump wrote in an emailed statement to The Washington Post. “But also to protect the legacy of a true visionary who did so much to shape the New York City skyline.”
