Nidal Hasan Sentenced to Death for Ft. Hood Shooting

 

Army Psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan has been sentenced to death by a military court for his role in the 2009 slaying of his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood. Hasan, who served as his own counsel during proceedings, said that his attack was justified because he was protecting his fellow Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq from U.S. soldiers.

Hasan killed 13 people and wounded 30 others in the 2009 attack on Ft. Hood. He was convicted of all counts against him by a military court on August 23.
