Nikki Haley Mocks Elizabeth Warren at Al Smith Dinner: ‘You Wanted an Indian Woman,’ But She ‘Failed Her DNA Test’
UN Ambassador Nikki Haley mocked Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for her disputed Native American heritage at the annual Al Smith Dinner.
Haley began her speech by telling the crowd the “really good advice” she received earlier in the day from President Donald Trump, who famously gave the speech in 2016 alongside Hillary Clinton just weeks before the election.
“He said if I get stuck for laughs, just brag about his accomplishments… It really killed at the UN,” Haley joked.
She took a shot a last year’s emcee, Speaker Paul Ryan.
“Last year, you went with Paul Ryan, who’s a boy scout,” Haley continued. “And that’s fine, but a little boring.”
But then she went for the jugular for Sen. Warren, who made public this week that she may be 1/1024th Native American.
“So this year, you wanted to spice things up again, right?” Haley said to the crowd. “I get it, you wanted an Indian woman… but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test.”
That cause the audience to roar with applause.
The outgoing Trump official added that when the president found out that she was Indian American, he asked if she was from “the same tribe as Elizabeth Warren.”
The former South Carolina governor also had some fun at the expense of New York City Mayor Bill deBlasio, who was present at the dinner, and told him that as a “member of the UN delegation” she has “diplomatic immunity.”
“You’re all familiar with diplomatic immunity, it’s an exemption from prosecution, or as Mayor deBlasio calls it a sanctuary city,” Haley quipped, which she then followed by holding a glass of water she said she grabbed from the mayor by mistake. “No ICE!” she exclaimed.
