Nine Irony: Politico Reports $45,000 Herman Cain Accuser Settlement Was Dated… 9/99

In a move sure to delight late-night comics, Politico is reporting that a $45,000 settlement to one of the women who accused embattled GOP frontrunner Herman Cain of sexual harassment was signed in September of 1999, or 9/99. As Colby Hall noted earlier today, though, the current controversy seems to only make Cain stronger, so perhaps this bit of nine irony will simply help raise awareness of Cain’s signature “9-9-9” tax plan.

From Politico:

Joel Bennett, the attorney for one of the women who complained about Herman Cain at the National Restaurant Association said Friday that his client’s settlement was dated in September of 1999 and signed by the trade group’s general counsel but not Cain.

Cain had already left the organization by then, before his three-year term was up, as my colleagues reported last night.

The National Restaurant Association is deliberating on whether to allow one of Cain’s accusers to make a statement, and a decision is expected later today.
