The New York Times has reportedly been disinvited from Vanity Fair‘s Oscar party following an article from the Times Thursday looking at “what happened” to the big annual gathering.
Just got word that Vanity Fair has disinvited The New York Times from covering their annual Oscars party. They said it "feels like the Times has already run their coverage of the VF party this year," they said. I guess we did!https://t.co/xZUWpbQnJH

The report from Katherine Rosman and Brooks Barnes––which you can read in full here––examines how the frenzy surrounding the prestigious Oscar party “has been fading for some time, at least among top celebrities.”
A spokesperson for Vanity Fair says in the Times report that the suggestion the party’s star is fading “couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Now the Times is saying they’ve been disinvited from the party. Per The Hollywood Reporter, a Times spokesperson said, “Yes, I can confirm that a reporter and photographer were disinvited from covering the event.”
Both Rosman and Barnes reacted to the news:
My apologies to the New York Times reporter who has been disinvited from the @VanityFair Oscar party because of my and @brooksbarnesNYT’s reporting. You’re welcome to come to my apartment to watch with me & my kids. Not a single brand exec will be there! https://t.co/MkRfkyARaA
