Oops: Christmas Carolers Accidentally Printed Tupac Shakur’s X-Rated ‘Hail Mary’ on Song Sheets

tupac-650x489Thanks to a mistake that took place at a caroling concert, West Coast rap got a chance to be part of the Christmas spirit this year.

The 2016 Catholic Joy to the World Festival occurred earlier this month in Colombo, and it’s one of Sri Lanka’s biggest Christmas festivals. Something went awry however, because instead of finding “The Hail Mary Prayer” on their song sheets, audience members at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre found Tupac Shakur‘s very explicit ‘Hail Mary” instead.

Instead of hymns praising the Virgin Mother, the confused congregation was treated Shakur’s lyrical observations about sex, violence, and other areas of gang culture. Here’s a picture of what the hymn book looked like with the lyrics inside.

The festival was being held to raise money to aid “poverty alleviation projects” that were being led by local charities.
