Oprah Will Play Richard Pryor’s Grandmother in New Biopic

Oprah Winfrey is following up her surprisingly-not-Oscar-nominated performance in Lee Daniels’ The Butler with another acting turn for that film’s director, Lee Daniels.

Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Winfrey will take on the role of comedian Richard Pryor’s grandmother in Daniels’ upcoming, untitled biopic. Mike Epps will play Pryor, beating out other rumored choices Nick Cannon, Marlon Wayans and Michael B. Jordan.

Winfrey teased the news with the Instagram below over the weekend, which was accompanied by the caption, “@theoriginalbigdaddy , @eppsie , and me just finished a great 1st read session. #RichardPryorMovie”:
