Paul Krugman In Characteristic Modesty: ‘I Have Been Right About Everything’

Not sure how this one slipped by unnoticed for so long, but Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman continued his ongoing streak of modest this week with a characteristically humble blog post on Monday in which the New York Times columnist declared: “I … have been right about everything.”

On the two-year anniversary of his “Myths of Austerity” column, Krugman said the piece “tried to knock down the simply insane conventional wisdom then gelling among Very Serious People.” He then declared that “Intellectually it was, I think I can say without false modesty, a huge win.”

“I (and those of like mind) have been right about everything,” he concluded.

Well, that settles it. Despite the serious criticism of Krugman’s understanding of austerity, victory has been declared and we can now safely conclude that austerity works nowhere and never.

Mediaite readers may also recall the time the noble Times columnist politely criticized his debate opponent Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) by summarizing the congressman’s views as “Gah gah goo goo!” and insisted his readers don’t “react based on their prejudices,” while Rep. Paul’s do.
